Delegation from Newcastle visits Riga

This was the second ERASynBio project meeting that took place in Riga. Anil Wipat, Jennifer Hallinan and Matthew Pocock met Latvian partners of the proposal writers: Egils Stalidzans and Jurijs Meitalovs.

We organised a visit to the Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology to meet Uldis Kalnenieks and Reinis Rutkis.

We even had a short handshake and chat with the minister of Agriculture Laimdota Straujuma. About six months later she became the first female prime minister of Latvia.
