Project coordinator: Professor Egils Stalidzans (Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Jelgava, Latvia)

Project objective:

The aim of the project is to create teaching materials for the training of systems biology in the new interdisciplinary field for specialists with basic knowledge in one of the involved sciences (biology, information technology, chemistry, mathematics, physics).

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to develop electronically available study materials divided into modules to supplement the initial knowledge of a specialist until the possibility to work in one of the broad directions of systems biology.

Definitions of Systems Biology educational modules are created in English and translated in national languages of partners. Main outcomes of the project are definitions of educational modules, educational modules, materials of pilot courses and other project information. Five pilot courses have been organized in partner countries: Jelgava (Latvia), Rostock (Germany), Espoo (Finland) and Bilbao (Spain). MOSBIO conference in Tartu (Estonia) is organised to summarize the outcomes of the project and disseminate them. Discussions about educational issues of systems biology were carried out.
